Report a Phoebe nest
Did you find a mud cup nest in Yolo, Sacramento, or Solano counties? Please let the Project Phoebe team know by filling out this form!

Mud cup nests are cup-shaped bird nests that are constructed from mud, grass, and other materials and adhered to a shaded vertical surface (see photo below). Often these nests are built under the awnings of houses or under bridges. The most common bird species that builds mud cup nests in this area is the Black Phoebe. Barn Swallows are another local species that constructs this nest type.

Not sure if what you found is a mud cup nest? Please fill out the form anyway and submit a photo so that we can determine if it is a nest.
