"Take One" Youth Film Program

ABOUT

“Take One” Youth Film Mentorship Program, powered by The Philadelphia Film Factory (Philm Factory) in partnership with We Embrace Fatherhood, provides local youth with various educational opportunities to gain empirical film experience with training, professional and personal development, and exposure to the business of film. Take One’s unique programming incorporates a gamified learning experience for all of our training sessions.

Filmmaking is such a dynamic field because not only does it include being creative, but it involves life skills such as critical thinking, decision making, communication and leadership skills, mathematics and budgeting, strategizing and team building. Additionally, our youth participants will have the opportunity to build their public speaking skills and learn to be solution-driven when challenges arise. After all, filmmaking is all about working with multi-functional teams and problem solving to create the finished product: a film!

We also understand the world outside of filmmaking and all the things that our youth may face in their personal lives, therefore our program allocates at least 30 minute sessions related to art for social change elements such as trauma and mental health awareness, violence prevention, unconscious bias training, community and civic engagement, and creative placemaking.
