To all our wonderful current and former SFU Film Students,
The Film Student Union is once again bringing back the SFU Film Archive! After the success of last year's Genesis screening, we are looking for up to twelve student & alum films, aiming for three films in each year, to be uploaded to the website for public viewing by new and prospective students. These films will be embedded on the site, complemented by the director's name, pronouns, social media handle, and a one-paragraph artist statement or bio (at the filmmaker's discretion).
Additionally, as was the case last year, we will be holding an in-person screening on the first Friday of October, screening these works for first-year students, film-intended students, and other prospective students to give a sense of the work that has been and can be made by those in the SFU film program.
Submissions will be open for fifteen days, from September 12th until September 27th at 11:59 PST (Extended submissions will be open until Sunday, September 29th at 12:00 PM PST). The selection process for the films will be done at random to ensure fair and equitable opportunities to all students that have submitted, with the minimum requirement of having three films from each year of the in program. If the minimum submissions for a given year isn't met, a random submission will be selected from another year.
NOTE: Every film featured in the showcase will be added to an annually-rotating playlist, with plenty more opportunity to submit during the following summer!
