What it is: Based on the SECOND EDITION of our Blueprint for a Multiracial, Cross-Class Climate Movement, this program will provide a supportive, structured framework for individuals engaged in multiracial, cross-class climate coalitions. Over the course of five months, we will cover essential concepts like how to identify common goals, establish internal decision-making processes, and navigate conflict. Through a combination of training sessions, peer learning discussions, and personalized coaching, participants will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to make sure that their climate cohorts make good on their promise.
Program goals: Participants in the Blueprint training cohort will be trained on how to diagnose, address, and strengthen the strategic and relational operation of their climate coalitions. They will be able to work through the obstacles faced by their coalition with the combined expertise and experience of the Lab staff and their fellow cohort members. Participants will graduate from this training series with renewed confidence in their ability to cultivate growth, collaboration, and impact in their coalition settings.
Who we’re looking for: This cohort is meant for professional organizers either working directly for US-based climate coalitions and/or coalition members who have some decision-making power in their coalitions. Basically, we are looking to support individuals with the capacity to influence the shape and function of the coalitions they work in. Preference will be given to participants who can apply with a fellow coalition member.
Cohort structure: The training cohort will kick off with a two-day in-person retreat for cohort members to meet, establish personal goals, and build understanding of each other’s coalition experience. Each month afterwards will include a virtual training session, an optional virtual work session, and one personalized coaching call with a Lab trainer. The cohort will conclude with presentations from each participant on progress towards their goals and their plan to further implement training concepts to improve the function of their coalitions.
Timeline:
Financial support: The Lab will provide travel, lodging, and food expenses for the in-person kickoff retreat. The virtual sessions and coaching will be provided for free over Zoom.
