Training: 6-8 hoursBackgrounding: Fingerprinting is required at no cost to the volunteerAfter training: We launch the table in someone's home. It is a potluck. Weekly meetings: volunteers must be willing to drive to a location close to the young person they are serving, OR help with transporting young person to and from meetingsTime commitment: 1 hour a week for up to 1 year. (We understand travel, vacation and illness. We are asking for a reasonable commitment to attend weekly.) Additionally, table members can get together with young people outside of table meetings too to help achieve goals and build relationships. A calendar can be set up so table members can schedule time with the young person.Fun activities: game nights, movie nights, baking cookies, making meals, bowling, and any other fun ideas are welcome as groups get to know each other. These are important for building trust and taking the pressure of the youth to "achieve". Financial commitment: Varies depending on where tables are recruited from. There is a training fee to the national organization that will be discussed at the organizational meeting with the area director. The maximum commitment is $10 a month or $120 for the year.
