CWPA currently has nine (9) committees with opening spots for volunteers. Please indicate your interest in serving on a CWPA Committee for the upcoming academic year 2025-2026. This is a preliminary interest form, and you may indicate interest in multiple committees if you’d like. If you select a committee, the Chair or another CWPA contact will reach out to you with next steps. If you select multiple committees, please be aware that you may receive multiple communications about your interests. Note that you do not need to be a member of CWPA to serve on a committee.
- Accessibility Committee: This committee is charged with improving accessibility across CWPA, including during national events and in our messaging and interactions with members.
- Best Book Award Committee: This committee is charged with soliciting nominees for the annual CWPA Best Book Award; seeking diverse nominations in topics and/or authors’ positionality; and selecting a recipient for the award from among the nominees.
- Conference Planning Committee: This committee is charged with planning and delivering the upcoming CWPA 2026 Annual Conference in July 2026.
- Graduate Research Award Committee: This committee is charged with soliciting nominees for the annual CWPA Graduate Research Awards; seeking diverse nominations; and selecting recipients for this award.
- Grants Committee: This committee is charged with creating and launching a call for research and administration grants; evaluating applications for each grant category; and selecting award winners for each grant category.
- Kenneth Bruffee Award Committee: This committee is charged with soliciting nominees for the annual CWPA Kenneth Bruffee Award, the award for the best article published in WPA: Writing Program Administration
- Mentoring Committee: This committee is charged with establishing a more structured mentoring database and focusing on mid- and late-career WPAs’ mentoring needs (career shifts from WPA work to other administrative roles).
- Outstanding Scholarship Award Committee: This committee is charged with soliciting nominees for the annual CWPA Outstanding Scholarship Award, an award for outstanding article length scholarship published outside of WPA: Writing Program Administration; prioritizing articles on diversity topics; selecting a recipient for the award from among the nominees.
- Recruitment Committee: This Committee is charged with increasing membership in new and underserved populations within the organization; producing promotional materials for targeted audiences; connecting to individual formal and informal WPAs at all types of institutions; connecting to regional or national organizations including HBCU Consortium, TYCA regionals, SLACs; and surveying those individuals.
