The Young Storytellers Creative Collective is a group of talented individuals that assist with projects to increase our storytelling impact and improve accessibility of our materials. Examples of projects include the designing of outreach brochures, taking photos of writing sessions and Big Shows, illustrating student stories to share with our wider community, copy-editing curriculum, creating captions and transcripts for videos, and more!
We had previously asked people to volunteer their time for these projects, but we know that many people, particularly BIPOC people, prioritize gigs that pay over volunteer opportunities. Though we are a nonprofit organization with a limited budget and aren’t able to fully pay industry rates, we also want to acknowledge and value the time and talent that people are giving to us. So, we will offer a small stipend for each Creative Collective project. To see examples of rates, see this information deck:
https://bit.ly/ysccinfoFor each project, we will provide:
- A small stipend (this amount depends on our budget, and will be revised annually).
- The opportunity for the artist/creative to decline, or donate a percentage or all of this stipend back to us.
- Credit to the artist/creative in all use of their materials.
- An in-kind donation receipt if applicable and requested.
- An agreement outlining clear expectations and protections for both the artist/creative and Young Storytellers.
- The opportunity to be added to the Creative Collective network, so that our artists and creatives can meet each other, collaborate, and get inspiration.
We will reach out when there is a project available!
We center anti-racism and equity in all of our work, from our programming to the way we operate. For more, read our worldview:
