More about the June 27 watershed bus tour
------------------------------------------------
What will the tour be like?
You'll hop on a bus for a tour of the watershed. We'll be getting off the bus at various locations for short walks and informational talks, including Fairfax County's only "trash trap" (to reduce litter in the stream), historic Gum Springs, and where Little Hunting Creek widens and becomes a wetland. Lunch will be provided at the last stop before the bus brings participants back to Mount Vernon Woods Park.

Why are we hosting this tour?
2025 was the 20th anniversary of the Little Hunting Creek Watershed Implementation Plan - the first plan of its kind in Fairfax County aimed at improving the quality of the water in the creek. Here in 2026, we are celebrating this anniversary with a fun and informative bus tour, looking at the creek as part of nature, history, and the community.

HOSTED BY: Friends of Little Hunting Creek, Nature Forward, and Defensores de la Cuenca
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH: Fairfax County Neighborhood & Community Services (NCS) and Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services (DPWES).
