The entry fee is £150 for each competing glider including the first pilot and £55 registration fee for each additional pilot in the same glider. When you have sent in the entry form we will invoice you for the fee payment.
There is one single class, handicapped according to the BGA list, open to any wood or fabric covered glider. The latest list can be found at
Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places overall.
The entry system is as follows:
All entries must be made using this form.
After submitting an entry application form you will receive, shortly after, an email containng an invoice for the fee. Follow the link to pay the invoice. This will be submitted using Sage Pay, our secure on line payment system.
The competition field is strictly limited to 40 in total so entries will be accepted in date order until that number is reached. No gliders arriving without having pre-booked and having paid the entry fee will be allowed to fly during the event.
Unsuccessful entries will not have the fees charged to their credit or debit card. They will be kept on a reserve list and offered places should cancellations occur applied in date order.
Entry fees to registered pilots will be refunded for cancellations up to 16th May 2020 (less an administration fee of £25). In the event of the competition being cancelled all entry fees will be refunded in full.
Rules and Notes for Pilots can be downloaded from the competition website:
All future correspondence will be done electronically so it is essential that we have a valid email address.
If you fill out the details as the First Pilot, you should pay only for the first pilot and any subsequent Second Pilot should fill out a separate form and pay only as a second pilot.
You may not have more than two additional pilots per glider and you should be aware that this severely restricts the chances of any one pilot gaining a medal as points are awarded to the pilots NOT the gliders.
All pilots must have a Silver C and a minimum of 100 hours.
Pilots should be current on the launch method they wish to use. If required, site checks will be available during the week before the competition
All pilots will be expected to carry a mobile phone and/or GPS or electronic Navigation device such as an Oudie, that can provide Latitude and Longitude coordinates to help locate them in the event of a land out. All pilots are advised to download the app 'What3Words' to their mobile phones and familiarise themselves with its use as this app will be used extensively to precisely locate land outs (within 3 metres) for retrieves.
Parents and guardians should be aware that by entering your child for the Wenlock Olympian Games you are also accepting that photographs may be taken at the event. Also, by signing, you accept this situation and you give permission for this to happen and for any photograph to be used by Midland Gliding Club Ltd and/or Wenlock Olympian Society for promotional purposes in the future.
We collect some personal data from each entrant and take data protection very seriously. Data will be used only for the purpose of conveying information to entrants and crew before and during the competition and for marketing future events at the MGC. All data relating to credit and debit cards and bank accounts will be destroyed immediately after the competition is closed and all debts to MGC have been paid.
