WHO: This event is focused on volunteers for FZB'23. Please fill out this form for every adult planning to attend.
WHAT: Traditionally, Hypothermia has been the interdepartmental Safety Training for FreezerBurn. Many Safety departments require training in order to volunteer. While this event's primary objective is to facilitate those Safety Trainings, this year we hope to provide relevant trainings from the other volunteer teams and departments that make this event possible.
WHEN: Friday, Nov 4, 3:30pm to Sunday, Nov 6, 12:00am
WHERE: Valkyrie Ranch, 2030 FM2104, Paige, TX 78659
The event is outdoors so please bring all you will need to tent camp or dry camp RVs; There will be
no water or electrical hook ups available on site.
WHY: At a burn, all departments are volunteer based. That's right, there are no paid positions! Because of this, it is imperative that our volunteers are prepared to manage whatever circumstances come up. We train with the hope that our skills are not needed, but we will be ready if they are. This is a new world we live in -- how we prepare for a burn and mitigate risks has to evolve. We highly encourage cross training even if you are not going to volunteer with that department. Understanding how other departments function improves how our teams work together collaboratively.
HOW: Current COVID vaccinations are required to attend Hypothermia. We still strongly encourage social distancing, masking during training and in public areas, and use of PPE for hands-on trainings.
Registration will close Oct 17.
There is a
Facebook event, but we will mainly be doing announcements via the Hypothermia Mailing List. Watch for e-mails from hypothermia-list@fzbtx.com or just anything from fzbtx.com.
