Language: All submissions must be in English, subtitled in English or English versioned.
Rough/Fine Cuts: The Festival will only accept one cut of each film for programming consideration. If needed, GFN Film Festival will request an updated version and will contact those applicants directly.
Restrictions: Films that are primarily promotional or commercial in nature will not be eligible for selection.
Length: Up to 15 minutes
Required Format: 1080p in H.264 Format
Deadline for Submission: Monday 1 April 2018
Awards: All selected films will be eligible for the following awards:
- Best Picture- Best Director- Best New Director (first-time directors only)- Biggest Impact
All awards will be decided by a jury, with Director Aaron Biebert (A Billion Lives & You Don't Know Nicotine) as the chair and presented by him to the winner during the closing session of GFN. The winning film may also be shown again during the closing session.
Submission guidelines for the GFN Film Festival are subject to change. The Festival reserves the right to rule on all issues not expressly covered in these guidelines.
For each official selection, the organisers of GFN will provide two complimentary registrations for the filmmakers, which will enable them also to take part in other parts of the conference, including the social and networking events. Applicants will be notified of programming decisions via email by 10 May 2018. Final programming, categorization and slotting of films will be determined by the Festival programming team. Their decision is final. Successful applicants will receive this information in their official invitation.
GFN Film Festival is under no obligation to provide comments or feedback regarding the submitted film to the applicant or any other representative of the submitted film.
No screeners or application materials will be returned. Do not send film prints, master tapes or other originals.
It is the sole responsibility of the applicant to secure clearance from all copyright holders of materials included in the submitted film. The GFN Film Festival will not be held responsible for the unauthorized inclusion of copyrighted materials within or relating to the submitted film. The GFN Film Festival reserves the right to disqualify any film with unauthorized copyrighted materials.
