All students attending Fannin County Schools must be legal residents of Fannin County except as otherwise provided by board policy, or state or federal law.
Children of Fannin County School District employees who are benefits eligible shall be allowed to attend Fannin County Schools as long as the employee provides transportation for their children. The term “employee” is not extended to contractors or those who are authorized to fill substitute positions.
A resident student who becomes a nonresident student may continue attending Fannin County Schools for the duration of the current academic term (semester).
Excluding the aforementioned provisions for the child(ren) of an employee, the Board requires the following guidelines are met for all nonresident students:
- Enrollment of out-of-state students is not permitted.
- Students who live in state but out of the district shall be charged tuition based on a formula to be determined by the Superintendent (or designee).
- The student must maintain excellent attendance with no referrals to the Attendance Support Team (AST);
- The student must maintain passing grades in all classes each semester;
- The student must abide by the student Code of Conduct.
Referrals to a Disciplinary Tribunal will result in immediate revocation of the privilege to attend Fannin County Schools.
In addition to meeting the guidelines above, the family of the nonresident student must agree to provide all transportation for the student. The Board authorizes the Superintendent (or designee) to develop regulations to implement this policy, including a provision addressing continued enrollment of out of district students currently enrolled in Fannin County Schools. If the nonresident student does not meet and/or maintain the criteria above or any other requirements set by the Superintendent (or designee), the student's privilege of attending school in Fannin County will be revoked.
Parents/guardians of a student who has moved out of the school district may initiate this request by completing this form.
