What is it for?Amazing Race is held by the Markham Mayor's Youth Council (MMYC) to engage the youth of Markham and raise awareness and funds for the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto which offers an extensive range of programs based on Indigenous traditions and teachings to youth across Toronto and the GTA. As this cause relies solely on donations, your contribution is imperative. The money you raise will help support the Indigenous youth programs!
How will it work? Each team will have 2 members and 1 chaperone (over the age of 18). In order to be eligible to compete, teams must raise at least $35/member. All proceeds go to the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto. In locations around Markham, challenge stations will be set up. Racers must decipher clues and follow a designated route to get to each station. Racers will be able to utilise provided public transportation or walk/run to stations. Each station must be completed in a maximum of 30 minutes. Racers must complete all the stations, present the physical clues as evidence, and cross the finish line first! Winners will be awarded with certificates as well as monetary/sponsored prizes.
Do we need a chaperone?Only teams where both racers are under the age of 18 require a chaperone. Any team where at least one of the racers are over the age of 18 do not require a chaperone.
Where is it?The starting location will be at the Markham Civic Centre, 101 Town Centre Blvd.
When is it?Saturday, June 16th, 2018 from 9:30 to 4:00
