Artist In Residence Application 2024
Thank you for you interest in becoming an Artist in Residence at Final Strike Collaborative!

In 2024, Final Strike Collaborative will host a series of Artists in Residence (AiR), a program that will be broken up into 3 separate segments, following the seasons of the year. We will select up to 3 artists to participate as our Artists in Residence for each active season. Each Season will run for 3 months, under the following schedule:

Spring AiR: March 1st - May 31st
Summer AiR: June 1st - August 31st
Fall AiR: September 1st - November 31st
(Winter: no artists in studio, hibernation season)

This program is designed to allow selected artists in NYC to use Final Strike’s studio space, tools, and reclaimed materials to create their own unique collections of art, furniture, home décor, jewelry, etc. - whatever they like! The hope is that this series will allow creativity to blossom from the minds of those typically limited by this city’s lack of resources. Concepts that NYC artists have envisioned can come to fruition with the help and resources of Final Strike Collaborative!

Applications for the Residencies are open from the beginning of the year, and you can apply for any season that works best for your own schedule! We will announce the selected artists one month prior to the Season's start date, so all parties have an appropriate amount of time to prepare for the process.

Announcing Dates for each Season are as follows:

Spring: February 1st
Summer: May 1st
Fall: August 1st
This means you MUST have your application turned in prior to those dates in order to be considered for the following Season's Residency openings.

Each artists’ collection should include a minimum of 3 items, although you can create more! They could all be identical, or made of the same materials but different in their own way, or completely different - whatever you'd like to make, our studio is there to help you make it happen!

Whatever size your collection is, it must be completed in the 3 month time period of your allotted season, from concept development, to creation, to final product photos and documentation. During the time of your residency, Final Strike’s Creation Specialist, Production Manager, and Shop Manager will help facilitate the creation of your work. Our people are as much a resource to you as our materials and studio space are!

Once you've completed your collection, the Final Strike team will work on selling your marvelous creations for you! You'll determine the price and provide us with any insight you have as the creator of the pieces, and we'll take it from there. Each artist will retain 75% of whatever sale price they assign to each piece, Final Strike retaining 25% to help maintain our space to support this series.

Any artist who is accepted into the AiR series is considered a collaborator within our community! Every collaborator is encouraged to attend monthly virtual meetings called Company Calls, held on the third Thursday of each month. In these meetings, artists will have the opportunity to discuss and share their projects with other collaborators. You will also get updates on additional Final Strike news and events outside the AiR series. These meetings are a community building opportunity, so you're welcome to invite another person if they're interested in being involved. Even after your Residency is complete, you are still welcome to attend Company Calls!

Any artist who completes a collection is welcome to apply for an additional Residency. There is no limit to how many Seasons an artist can participate in.

That's the long-short of it all! If you have any questions about the application, the selection process, or the AiR Series, feel free to contact our Creation Specialist and head of the AiR series at:
