Code Convening PDX 2015

Are you or your colleagues working on a project that would be useful to the journalism community? Do you need some time (and maybe a little guidance) to write great documentation so everyone can get the most out of your code? Then you should apply to participate in the first OpenNews Code Convening of 2015, this May in Portland.

We'll be bringing a cohort of news developers and journalists to the Write The Docs conference, May 17-19. On Sunday, we'll work together to write and revise documentation, and release the latest version of your projects. We'll spend Monday and Tuesday learning from--and talking journalism with--the technical documentation community at Write The Docs. And depending on the scope of project proposals we receive, we may consider adding one last workday on Wednesday.

Code convenings are designed to give promising newsroom projects the last nudge they need toward an open-source release. This event should lend itself to individuals as well as teams of two. OpenNews will cover travel, conference costs and meals; all you need to bring is a great project to get out into the world.

Project proposals will be open through Friday, April 24, at 6 p.m. Eastern. We have space for a small number of individuals and/or teams for this event, so apply now and we'll be in touch soon.
