Roguelike Celebration 2019 Call For Proposals
Give a talk at the Roguelike Celebration on October 5-6, 2019! Event info:

All proposals must be submitted by Sunday, June 9, at 11:59pm PST. Feel free to make multiple submissions!

If you have any questions, feel free to email us at

We're excited for anything related to roguelikes, game development, or procedural generation in general. Most of our talks tend to be developers talking about their own work, but we'd love to hear about your experience as a player, or more non-traditional art performances — in the past, we've had activities ranging from a Nethack speedrun with live commentary to a full-on procedurally-generated live comedy show. We're open to anything, so long as it somehow ties into either roguelikes or procedural generation!

We especially encourage diverse a]pplicants to apply. We welcome people of any gender identity or expression, race, ethnicity, size, nationality, sexual orientation, ability level, neurotype, religion, elder status, family structure, culture, subculture, identity, and self-identification.

Enter a URL to a photo. We'll include this on the website and on our conference schedule. A headshot / photo of your face is preferred, but something else is totally fine if you're not comfortable with that.
Your answer
Bio *
Tell us about yourself! This'll be included in the conference schedule online.
Your answer
Talk title *
We'll show this on the conference schedule online. Don't worry, you can change it later!
Your answer
What would you like to present on? *
Tell us your idea! Totally fine if it's a rough draft of an idea - we can email you back and work with you on it. What's the topic? What will people learn? What makes you excited about it? This is just for us, not for the public conference schedule.
Your answer
Is this a short talk, a longer talk, or something else entirely (live performance, panel discussion, live game playthrough, etc)
Do you have anything else to share about your proposal?
We're curious to learn about any previous writing/talks/etc. you've done on roguelikes or related topics (even vaguely related). You don't need to put anything here, but feel free to provide any extra context that may help us understand your proposal.
Your answer
Would you be able to attend the conference in-person? (San Francisco on October 5-6, 2019) *
It's OK if you're not sure or if you can't travel. We're comfortable with remote talks presented over live videostreaming or prerecorded talks, since we know it's not easy for everyone to get to San Francisco. If you're not sure if you can attend due to financial constraints, let us know — we're aiming to get more sponsor funding this year to cover speaker travel for those who otherwise couldn't make it. Regardless, your answer here won't have any effect on speaker selection.
Do you identify as a member of a marginalized or underrepresented group?
This will not affect selection criteria, and is just so that we can track our own diversity efforts internally.
Do you work for an organization that might be able to sponsor us?
We're looking for folks to help chip in and make this the best Roguelike Celebration ever! If you know someone who might be able to help us out, let us know and we'll reach out. As above, your answer here will have no effect on our speaker selection.
