Mind Travelers' Aquarium Response Survey
Mind Travelers' Aquarium is a multifaceted interactive public art project by artist Sayuri Sasaki Hemann that took place between September 6 - November 25, 2016. With Project Art at UIHC as a partner, this project took place in the Fountain Lobby and beyond, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Connecting through the exhibit, various free public workshops and events, Sayuri sought to create a shared experience that lets all minds travel through water, waves and light, imagined or real, or somewhere in between...

A significant portion of the funding for the Mind Travelers Aquarium was provided by the Art Project Grant which was administered by the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, the National Endowment for the Arts, which allowed me to garner up and secure funding support for the other half of the funding that allowed this project to happen.

The morning of March 16, 2017, the Trump Administration released its budget proposal which includes the proposed elimination of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). It is my duty as an artist and a recipient of Project Grant (cycle 2017) from NEA via IAC to provide concrete examples of how it affected the lives of those of us who experienced this project. If you have been impacted by visiting my exhibit or participating in my public workshops/events/artist talk or simply by the online presence of this project, please spend a moment to share how it affected you. The more specifics that you can provide, the better!

Thank you in advance for taking the time.
Sayuri Sasaki Hemann
