Downtown Art will provide a residency at 70 East 4th Street in our studio loft and $3500 commissioning fee to support an original creative project which involves youth and is centered on addressing a social justice concern. The residency period, which runs from March 1 - June 30, should culminate in a public presentation and/or action.
Project leaders or leadership team should include experience in all areas: artmaking, youth engagement, and activism. The studio is particularly suitable for dance or theater, but all creative disciplines will be considered. Projects may have already begun prior to the residency period.
The Residency time frame is March 1 - June 30, 2018.
What does this residency provide?- Residency hours in Downtown Art's large loft studio, which will include a regular hours on Saturdays during the day, and hours as available on weekdays during late afternoon/early evening - A commissioning fee of $3500.- Production support from DTA staff for a culminating public presentation- Access to DTA staff for brainstorming and support
The application requests a detailed project description, including experience working with youth, and history with focus issue, plus three work samples.
