Fluid Forms with Stephanie Liapis

Tuesday, November 30th at 12:00-1:30pm EST
Tuesday, December 7th at 12:00-1:30pm EST

Stephanie’s class is rooted in the study of self-awareness as a tool for connection and is highly influenced by her work with Doug Varone. Class begins with a guided improvisation investigating ideas of internal and external support, weight, effort, and sensation. Imagery is used to create connection to the body and the body’s relationship to space, and most importantly, to build a sense of joy in how we move and express. These concepts are then further explored and developed through structured exercises and interactions.

Stephanie Liapis (MFA) is a performer, choreographer, and educator based in southern California. Her professional career spans twenty years and includes work with Doug Varone and Dancers, Nicholas Leichter Dance, Susan Marshall & Company, and many others. She has taught extensively across the country and abroad including positions at Hunter College, Barnard College, the University of Washington, Cornish College of the Arts, Swarthmore College, and Long Island University in Brooklyn. Stephanie is in the midst of several creative projects with Doug Varone, Adriane Fang, Leslie Kraus, and Keith Johnson.
