The Empowered Caregiver Program Registration - April 2025 (Kailua-Kona)

The Empowered Caregiver is an education program by the Alzheimer’s Association® that teaches caregivers how to navigate the responsibilities of caring for someone living with dementia. This program is being offered in four sessions at the West Hawaii Civic Center, Room B2 at 74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Hwy in Kailua-Kona

NOTE: You may register for individual parts or the entire series.

  • Building Foundations of Caregiving: Friday, April 4, 2025  |  10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
    This session covers topics like the role of a caregiver, how to build your support team and ways to manage caregiver stress.
     
  • Communicating Effectively: Friday, April 11, 2025  |  10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
    This session 
    covers topics like dementia’s effect on communication, using a person-centered communication approach and tips for communicating well with others.
     
  • Dementia-Related Behaviors: Thursday, April 24, 2025  |  10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
    This session 
    covers topics like dementia’s effect on behavior, possible triggers and steps for managing behaviors.
     
  • Supporting Independence: Exploring Care and Support Services: Tuesday, April 29, 2025  |  10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
    This session 
    covers topics like dementia’s effect on independence, steps to help with daily activities and providing the right amount of support, as well as topics like planning for care changes, types of care and moving care settings.
