ARSL Advocacy Support Request
This support is provided as part of a professional community and is not intended to serve as legal advice or official lobbying.

Our Advocacy Committee is committed to providing support for all members of the rural and small library community regardless of ARSL membership. If you find our advocacy resources helpful we would encourage you to consider becoming a member or making a donation! ARSL is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and those member dues and donations are key to ensuring our ability to continue standing up for libraries in need.

This is a pilot program. The resources available through this program may change as the Advocacy Committee refines its processes. We welcome your feedback.

You may request a copy of your responses be sent to you once you have completed this form. Please note, emails sent to your organizational email address may become public record.

Briefly describe the situation your library is facing:
The ARSL Advocacy Committee is able to provide guidance and support to our community in a variety of ways. Support materials may take up to one week to be produced and provided depending on the complexity of your request.

Please indicate below which of the following would best help your library in dealing with your current situation:
  • ARSL Letter of Support: an official letter issued by the organization showing support for your library's advocacy concerns. This letter would articulate ARSL's mission, vision, and values and the ways in which your library is upholding those values through your work.
  • Guidance on Policies & Procedures: advice on developing/reviewing or using policies and procedures to address your advocacy concerns.
  • Recommendations for Educational Materials: recommendations for materials to use to educate your staff, governing officials (Library Board members; City or County Councilors), or community members about any of ARSL's advocacy priorities, or about your specific advocacy concern as able.
The committee is also open to requests that fall outside of these categories, and will work to fulfill them to the best of our ability.
