Partner with Where Art Lives in 2023-24
The study of graffiti art supports student learning about social and emotional self care, individual identity, Ethnic Studies, and social movements, while giving them a more tactile relationship with words and literacy.

👀 We're looking for SFUSD educators (in school or after-school) and your students to join us in learning about graffiti art.

This is a collective inquiry
What messages do young people in our city want to share with their community?
What does graffiti art and Hip Hop inspire you to create?

Material support
Classes who participate can receive:
  • sketchbooks for each student (order by September 20, 2023!),
  • art supplies for the classrooms,
  • a budget for teaching artist visits, mural projects, and field trips (you choose, we pay!).
You will also get access editable copies of our lesson slide shows and other materials so that you can adapt them for your students.

I COMMIT: I will use class time to present (my choice of) Where Art Lives lessons to my students. *
I COMMIT: I will help and encourage students to submit art in the Where Art Lives challenge. *
To qualify for the Where Art Lives challenge, the student artist needs to be able say how their art will benefit their community.
Would you like sketchbooks for your students? How many?
We have 380 more sketchbooks to send to students by September 19, 2023. Each sketchbook has information about "Graffiti Laws and Artist Rights" in English and Spanish and pictures of our step-by-step guide to drawing graffiti-style words. They are designed to look like graffiti "black books" and have 75 pages of 60lb thickness.

Tell us how many sketchbooks and a shipping address. Be sure to include a sketchbook for yourself and an extra copy.
