EXPERIENCE.Many of our seniors that are looking for summer jobs, paid internships, or to enter the workforce upon graduation will be dressed to impress with resumes in hand. Use this time to Hire A Slicer! & help our students demonstrate employability skills by engaging with them on opportunities in your field and networking with them.
If you have already Hired A Slicer or have committed to doing so, use the signing booth sponsored by the LaPorte Economic Advanced Partnership (LEAP) to have a photo taken with your new or prospective hires. Let us publicize and celebrate your support of slicers entering the workforce and your overall investment in our community!
9:10-10:10- 8th grade
ENGAGE with students coming from Boston and Kesling Middle School around their career interests. Our 8th graders will be transitioning to high school. Share with them the importance of getting a good start in school and taking classes that will prepare them for success in your field. All 8th graders will take a skills assessment prior to attending this event and have been working to learn about careers and how the courses we offer at the high school align to career pathways. Help these students get excited about careers and more intentional about their high school planning and experience.
10:20-11:20- 5th graders
Almost 500 5th grade students will be attending. Help them EXPLORE careers! Provide opportunities for student to get hands on and excited about your field. Students will be working with school counselors to learn about careers and take an aptitude test before attending this event.
11:25-12:00- Lunch (provided)
12:05-12:50- 9th grade 12:55-1:40- 10th grade 1:45-2:30 -11th grade
Meet with our high school students at each grade level. Offer opportunities for EXPERIENCE through summer jobs and internships for our sophomore and junior students. ENGAGE with students around future opportunities in your field. Consider Providing students with information about opportunities, demand, pay scale, and necessary education to work at your business or in your industry.
