24-25 SEPAC Executive Board Application

The Bernards Township SEPAC Executive Board is seeking Committee Members and SEPAC School Liaisons for the 2024-2025 school year. Volunteer to make an impact today!

All Executive Board members provide input to, and collaborate with, the Bernards Township school district in a mutually respectful manner on the development of policies, programs, and practices that widely impact students receiving special education and related services.

Committee Members and Liaisons both have a term of 1 year and may re-volunteer without limits.

Committee members may also serve as a SEPAC School Liaison if no other representative is available.

We strive to ensure the Committee members represent a broad section of pupil ages, schools and classifications.

Once an application is submitted, a member of the Executive Board will arrange a brief interview. We can't wait to connect!

Applications are due by June 3rd.

Committee Members*:

-- Are assigned to projects within the SEPAC dedicated to achieving the SEPAC's annual goals.

-- Attend 3 meetings/year with the District Administration.

-- Meet approximately every other month as an entire Executive Board.

*The number of Committee Members each year is driven by the SEPAC's goals.

SEPAC School Liaisons*:

-- Act as a liaison between the classified population in their assigned school and the SEPAC Executive Board committee members.

-- Proactively reach out to special education families at their designated school in order to stay apprised of any special education trends or feedback that might be best addressed at the Administrative level.

-- Attend the school’s monthly principal/PAC meetings to raise special education concerns and perspectives. These monthly meetings are held during the school day and may be conducted in person or virtually.

-- Attend monthly PTO meetings to provide input regarding the needs of special education students at school-sponsored events and activities.

*Each school year will have at least 7 SEPAC School Liaisons. The goal is to have Liaisons from each school as well as Out of District.

Which school does your child attend? *
Which placements apply to your child/children? (We aim to have a diverse representation of special education placements)
The Bernards SEPAC does not exist to advocate on the behalf of single families or children, but rather to provide input to the district on systemic issues that widely impact children with IEPs and 504s within its school district.

Do you acknowledge that, if chosen to serve, you will not use the SEPAC to raise special education concerns that are solely personal in nature?
Please share why you are interested in serving as a SEPAC representative.
Have you previously served on the Bernards Township SEPAC Executive Board?
