Nas últimas duas décadas, a pesquisa científica voltou-se progressivamente para métodos que abraçam a subjetividade e a plasticidade dos dados como meio de fazer novas descobertas, bem como uma estratégia de divulgação para audiências mais amplas. O laboratório do CICS.NOVA “Modelar Inventários Críticos” questiona a atividade de inventariar como método cruzando práticas artísticas, ciências sociais e humanas (CSH). O inventário continua a ser o instrumento de recensão de eleição em domínios tão diversos como nas bibliotecas e arquivos, a gestão de stocks, os bens patrimoniais individuais e públicos, na listagem florestal, de emissões de poluição, na conservação ambiental e biológica, ou na tecnologia da informação. Esta ferramenta empírica, aparentemente comum e anódina, merece hoje uma atenção particular quanto à escolha dos seus assuntos, às suas historicidades, às posturas adotadas, aos seus objetivos, aos seus diversos impactos no processo de investigação.

Over the past two decades, scientific research has increasingly turned to methods that embrace the subjectivity and plasticity of data as a means of making new discoveries, as well as a strategy for dissemination to wider audiences. The workshop ‘Modeling Inventories’ questions the activity of inventorying as a method that crosses artistic practices, social sciences and humanities (SSH). Inventorying remains a primary tool of enumeration in domains as diverse as libraries and archives, stock management, individual and public heritage assets, forest inventories, pollution emissions, environmental and biological conservation, or information technology. This seemingly common and innocuous empirical tool now merits particular attention in terms of the choice of its subjects, the attached historicities, the positions adopted, its objectives, and its various impacts on the research process.

OBJETIVOS // OBJECTIVES

[PT] · Aprofundar o conhecimento metodológico de recolha de dados através da partilha de casos de estudos em artes e ciências sociais;

· Experimentar a criação de inventários críticos ao modelar as nossas bases de dados com meios criativos;

· Formar um grupo de trabalho temporário no sentido de Comunidade de Prática (CoP);

· Deepening methodological knowledge of data collection by sharing case studies in the arts and social sciences;

· Experimenting with the creation of critical inventories by modelling our databases with creative means;

· Creating a temporary working group in the sense of a Community of Practice (CoP);

PRE-REQUISITOS // PRE-REQUIREMENTS

Este laboratório é dedicado a estudantes e investigadores que desejam questionar os limites das abordagens tradicionais da recensão e interpretação de dados/matérias e explorar novas vias interpretativas e analíticas pelas práticas criativas. 

· Os participantes poderão apresentar os seus trabalhos de pesquisa atuais, sejam artísticos, sejam fundamentais em CSH. 

· Os participantes estão convidados a trazer os seus inventários, coleções, base de dados digitais, desenhos, arquivos textuais, audiovisuais ou qualquer outros materiais brutos compilados, com o fim de trabalhá-los como médiuns na iniciação de uma Comunidade de prática (CoP).

· O laboratório acolherá um máximo de 20 pessoas. Os cientistas sociais, artistas, designers e outros criativos que possam trazer os seus inventários materiais ou digitais e outras colecções para o workshop são encorajados a participar.

· Poderá ser ministrado em português e/ou em inglês, dependendo da audiência.

This workshop is dedicated to students and researchers who wish to question the limits of traditional approaches to the collection and interpretation of data/materials and explore new interpretative and analytical avenues through creative practices.

· Participants will be able to present their current research work, whether artistic or fundamental in CSH.

· Participants are invited to bring their inventories, collections, digital databases, drawings, textual and audiovisual archives or any other compiled raw materials in order to work with them as mediums in the initiation of a Community of Practice (CoP).

· The laboratory will accommodate a maximum of 20 people. Social scientists, artists, designers and other creatives who can bring their material or digital inventories and other collections to the workshop are encourage to join. 

· It can be taught in Portuguese and/or English, depending on the audience.
