The Awards & Gala

Our goal of the Business Excellence Awards is to follow the mission of the Albert County Chamber of Commerce in promoting economic and commercial prosperity in Albert County by:
- Encouraging and acknowledging those businesses who act as outstanding role models
- Recognizing businesses who have made exceptional contributions to Albert County economy
- Valuing and displaying the wide array of talent that creates Albert County Business
- Celebrating the diversity and culture of our County

Nomination Requirements
- Nominees do not need to be members of the Albert County Chamber of Commerce
- A business is considered to be a sole proprietorship, a partner, or a corporation. It may be small, an independent retailer, a service business, a franchise operator, an agricultural operator or manufacturer, or a non-profit*
- A business may be nominated for more than one award, but no more than three
- A business may be nominated by anyone from the general public and/or business community. A business can self-nominated.
- Nominations must be submitted by February 27th 2019.
- The nominee will be notified of their nomination, and they can either accept or decline.

*please note that for the Environmental Stewardship Award, we will be accepting a wide away of nominees – from businesses to volunteers, individuals, and community leaders

Selection Process
1. The Chamber will receive the nominations and check to ensure that the nominee qualifies for the category they are nominated for.
2. Once the submissions are collected, they will be collated and put together in a small package for the judges. The judges panel will consist of a volunteer committee from the Chamber Board of Directors
3. The judges rate each submission based on a general rubric, determining an overall score for each nominee. The nominee who has the highest score will win that award.
a. For the People’s Choice Award, the judges will select the top three nominees. The winner will be selected by vote by the Gala attendees via ballot.
4. The winners’ identities will be kept secret and will be unveiled at the awards dinner when they are presented their award!

The Awards

Business of the Year
This will be awarded to an outstanding business or organization that, in the past year, has:
- Consistently delivered optimal (customer) service,
- Demonstrated best-practice procedures in workplace wellness, health, and safety,
- Demonstrated innovative and proactive leadership within their business or industry,
- Demonstrated measurable success as a business and/or as an employer
- Practiced good citizenship and contributed to the betterment of the county.

Non-profit of the Year
This will be awarded to an outstanding organization that, in the past year, has:
- Demonstrated innovative and proactive leadership within their organization or sector
- Demonstrated measurable success in their field
- Practiced good citizenship and contributed to the betterment of the County
- Developed the skills, knowledge, and performance of its organization and volunteers

Emerging Business of the Year
This will be awarded to an outstanding business or organization that, in the past year, has:
- Been in operation for two full years, or less
- Met an identifiable need within the County
- Demonstrated measurable success in their business and/or as an employer

Tourism Excellence Award
This will be awarded to an outstanding business or organization that, in the past year, has:
- Consistently delivered promotion of the Albert County Region
- Exceeded customer expectations in their industry
- Offers a superior-quality product or service
- Demonstrated measureable success as a business and guest destination

Accommodations Excellence Award
This will be awarded to an outstanding business or organization that, in the past year, has:
- Delivered an exceptional level of service and hospitality to its guests that went above and beyond a place to stay and exceeded expectations
- Integrated the character of Albert County into their hotel or accommodation
- Demonstrated innovation in one or more of the following: originality of the accommodation concept, architectural quality, design or guest experience

Food & Drink Services Award of Excellence
This will be awarded to an outstanding business or organization that, in the past year, has:
- Demonstrated consistent excellence in food, atmosphere, service, and operations
- Offered a quality product that reflects the character of the County
- Shown commitment to sourcing food locally from within Albert County

Community Service: Albert County Ambassador
This will be awarded to an outstanding business or organization that, in the past year, has:
- Provided intentional, personable, and consistent representation of Albert County in their sector and/or general public
- Enhanced County spirit and goodwill both within and outside the County
- Practiced good citizenship and made exceptional contributions to the County by promoting community betterment

Environmental Stewardship
This will be awarded to an outstanding business or organization that, in the past year, has:
- Made an outstanding commitment to sustainable development and operations as their normal course of business and in day-to-day operations
- Self-initiated environmental actions and programs beyond minimum legislative rules and regulations
- Promoted sustainable business and lifestyle within the County

Arts and Culture Award
This will be awarded to an outstanding business or organization that, in the past year, has:
- Enriched the arts and culture scene in Albert County
- Shown dedication in promoting Albert County’s art and culture locally and outside the County
- Dedicated time, energy and/or resources to presenting and/or preserving aspects of Albert County’s rich culture and heritage

People’s Choice
Awarded to an outstanding business or organization based upon votes submitted by ballot the night of the Gala.

* Your nomination may not succeed six (6) total pages of documents.
* Please note that all documents received will not be returned. They will be held in confidentiality. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure all patents/copyrights are protected.
