2024-25 Committee Volunteer

Montgomery County Public Schools (VA) have a number of standing committees that meet regularly throughout each school year. These committees assist us by fostering productive dialogue and varied perspectives. We strive to build committees that reflect the diversity within our communities. Please use this form to express your desire to volunteer for one or more of our committees, should there be any available openings. We likely cannot accept every volunteer - the committee chairperson will contact you directly if your services are needed.

Calendar Committee. Develops draft school calendars to present for approval by the School Board. The committee includes employees, parents/guardians, students, and community members. This committee works on a 2-year cycle and is not expected to meet until late spring 2023.

Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee. Provides input on CTE curriculum offerings, pathway expansion, student certification testing. Meets two times per year.

Elementary Advisory Committee. Provides insight and feedback for MCPS Pre K-5 Program. The committee includes employees, parents/guardians, students, and community members. This committee meets approximately 4 times per year.

English as a Secondary Language Committee. Provides insight and feedback for programming meant to assist students and families learning English as their second language. This committee includes employees, parents/guardians, students, and community members. This committee meets approximately twice per year.

Equity Committee. Works to ensure that MCPS provides equitable opportunities for our students and staff. This committee includes employees, parents/guardians, and community members. This committee meets 4 times per year.

Gifted Advisory Committee. Provides insight and feedback for the education of gifted students. Will help write the Division Gifted Plan. This committee includes employees, parents/guardians, students, and community members. This committee meets approximately 4 times a year.

Health Insurance Advisory Committee. Analyzes and recommends health insurance packages for MCPS employees. This committee is primarily for employees. This committee meets approximately twice per year.

Literacy Committee. Helps to develop and support implementation of the Virginia Literacy Act in Grades K - 8.

Mental Health Advisory Committee. Monitors school climate in an effort to improve mental health initiatives for students and employees. This committee includes employees, parents/guardians, students, and community members. This committee meets approximately 4 times per year.

School Health Advisory Board. Provides insight and feedback for wellness and health initiatives within the division. This committee includes employees, parents/guardians, students, and community members. This committee meets approximately 4 times per year.

Secondary Advisory Committee. Provides insight and feedback for MCPS 6-12 Programs. This committee includes employees, parents/guardians, students, and community members. This committee meets approximately 4 times per year.

Special Education Advisory Committee. Provides insight and feedback for the education of students with disabilities. Will help develop the Division Special Education Plan. This committee includes employees, parents/guardians, students, and community members. This committee meets monthly.
