About Us
Umthunzi Farming Community was established in March 2018. We are a social business working in the field of sustainable urban food systems. We currently work with approximately 50 small-scale farmers from Khayelitsha, Gugulethu, Nyanga, Mitchells Plain, Philippi and Langa.

-Our mission: To economically empower small-scale farmers in the Cape Flats
-Our vision: Small-scale farmers are key contributors to a local Cape Town food system that provides nourishing food, job creation and support healthy, prosperous communities
-Our objectives: To provide marketing, sales, and distribution of organic vegetables in Cape Town that are grown by small-scale urban farmers in the Umthunzi Farmer Network
-Our values:
*Social, economic and business empowerment of small-scale farmers as independent farmers/business owners
*Fair trade practices to ensure farmers get fair pay for their produce and we are held accountable in regards to transparency of our financial model and visibility of farmers’ identities in the public sphere
*Community for farmers, customers and volunteers to support one another and the growth of Umthunzi
