Game Journalism Workshop (March 16)
Time of Workshop: @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm EST / 4:00 – 5:00 pm PST

G4C and the New York Videogame Critics Circle invite middle and high school students across the U.S. to participate in a short (1-hour) games journalism workshop. During the session, students will work with top professional journalists and will:

 • Learn how to think and write about video games
 • Explore the process of creating a video game narrative
 • Understand how to pursue a career in the games industry

The Game Journalism workshops will help prepare students to enter a new competitive scholarship offered through this year’s G4C Student Challenge and sponsored by the New York Videogame Critics Circle: the Fair Game Writing Challenge. To enter, students must submit two writing samples: (1) a Video Game Review and (2) a Game Narrative. Criteria for each writing sample is available on the competition website and the deadline for entries is April 16. Learn more here: bit.ly/G4C-FairGame

One student winner will be selected in each Challenge city (NYC, LA, Detroit and Atlanta) and for the National competition. Each student winner will receive a $400 scholarship and special mentorship opportunities from expert video game journalists and critics.

Zoom login details will be shared with registered participants in advance of the sessions.
