We invite you to join us on this journey of empowerment and collaboration!
The DDSD Family Ambassador Program is designed to highlight families as essential partners in their students' schools and community, while sharing important information to support informed decision-making, and providing shared leadership opportunities. 

The three pillars of the DDSD Family Ambassador Program:

1. Leadership

Engage in leadership roles and participate in decision making to include the voices of those underrepresented

2. Communication 

Promote and encourage asset-based, intentional, and open communication between all stakeholders

3. Knowledge  

Empower families to share their knowledge, strengths, and tools to actively support students

Meeting Time: 6:00 - 8:00 pm

Meeting Location: David Douglas School District, Boardroom  
1500 SE 130th Ave. Portland, OR 97233

  • Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025

  • Tuesday, April 7th, 2026

*Please note, this is a year-long commitment with opportunities for continued leadership. We understand that life circumstances may impact your attendance, but we ask that if you apply, you are committed to attending all of the meetings. If you are still interested but have specific dates when you are unavailable, please let us know.

The DDSD Family Ambassador Program is a free program, designed to empower families as essential partners in their child's education. We encourage educators and families to work together to support every aspect of a child's growth. By equipping families with the necessary tools and support, we enhance their engagement and knowledge of the school system. With increased confidence, families know they have the power to be decision-makers, improve communication, and ultimately drive their children to success. *

DDSD Family Ambassador program is designed for adults who have a child enrolled at a DDSD school for the 2025/26 school year
DDSD Family Ambassadors will work to form strong, collaborative teams to build trust and reciprocal respect
DDSD Family Ambassadors will learn about and practice family engagement skills
DDSD Family Ambassadors will learn about school and district procedures
DDSD Family Ambassadors will work with School Administrators and District Leaders
DDSD Family Ambassadors will explore and address barriers of student success
DDSD Family Ambassadors will collaborate on planning and completing goals
DDSD Family Ambassadors are expected to complete pre and post program surveys, and an exit ticket for each session
