Is my project suitable for Riso?

Your project may not be suitable for riso if:
- You want to print 10 or fewer copies of a book (or thesis)
- You want to print a book in an edition that is higher than 1500
- You want to print a full-color book/zine but only have a small budget

- Quoting is time-consuming and we calculate projects new for each client. So we will give you max. 2 variations (of edition or colors) of one project so you get an idea of the scope and then we can go from there.

Terms & Conditions
All quoted prices are netto and don’t include MvSt. (7% for publication, 19% for prints) or shipping costs. We charge extra for file work or any communication that goes beyond half hour of consultation time. We are not printing material that is either harmful to the rights of others or harmful to our printer. By submitting us your print job you are aware of the inaccuracies that occur when printing with Riso. How many colors?
Example: if you have a poster, printed on one side with 3 colors, you would say 3/0 col.
If you have a flyer, printed with one color on one side and 4 colors on the backside, you would say 1/4 col.
If you have a publication uses a mix of different colors, please send us a preview PDF so we can give you a more specific quote for that.

Which colors do you want to use?
Do you want to use regular colors or also special / custom inks? Find our available colors here.
Regular inks are: black, blue, crimson, yellow, medium blue, hunter green, federal blue, orange, green, purple, flat gold, teal, brown, grey.
Special Inks are: fluo orange, fluo pink
(the are 30% more expensive)
Custom colors are: fluo yellow, aqua, violet, metallic gold, light lime, cornflower, bubblegum...
(they are double the price)

Ink coverage
We adjust prices based on ink coverage. Please choose an option most accurate for your project. You can choose multiple options if it is mixed (f.e. a full color background in one color with text in another color).

the final size after cutting (in cm). For publications, the closed format.
We cannot print larger than A3!

please count the pages as you would in a regular book.
Paper!
We have some papers in stock at all times, however for bigger projects, we will have to order in the paper for you. Please keep that in mind when you have a deadline.
Note: some papers have to be ordered in a high edition of at least 1.000 sheets A3. Especially coloured papers. So if you are planning something small, it makes sense that you use the colors we have in stock or get the paper yourself from a local paper shop.
Paper gsm
For flyers we recommend 100-150gsm
For posters we recommend 100-175gsm
For art prints we recommend 150-240gsm
For zines we recommend 80-120gsm
Paper above 240gsm requires extra labor and material loss, so there's a large price jump when using thick paper.

Cover paper
This is only relevant if you are printing a publication and would like the cover paper to differ from the inside. Please specify the gsm below and if you want to use special paper (colored, special material etc.)
Paper color
Our default paper to use with riso is non-recycled because it makes the riso colors pop and traps in the ink. 
Please keep in mind that recycled paper almost always has a grey tinge. We don't recommend it for full-colored or heavy ink printing.

We recommend using rough paper for riso printing, especially for illustrations and full-coloured projects, since it traps the ink better and avoids smudging.

Clean finish for Artprints and cards?
Risoprinting is a wet printing technique. Heavy inking can bleed onto the backside of the sheet above. Blotting (adding a blank sheet between prints) helps to avoid this ink transfer and guarantees cleaner results. We recommend this service for cards or Artprints (+5%-10%).
File delivery
Please choose an option for file delivery, based on your ability. Check our printing page for margin and file set up guidance.
We can help make the print-ready files. If you don't have experience with file set up (margins, crop marks, bleed), please send us single pages pdfs and we will do the set up for you.
We also offer color separation!

In-studio consultation
Sometimes it's easier to visit our studio and look at your files together or check out color/paper options. We offer free in-person consultations (15 mins for poster/flyers, 30 minutes for publications). Additional consultation will be charged hourly. 
You are always welcome to visit our studio during our open hours (Fridays, 12-6pm) to look at printed examples or browse our archive/library.  
Rush Job
If you are on a tight deadline, we can print a rush job for you (3 days for posters, 5 days for a zines) which will incur a 15% rush fee. This is only possible if you have print-ready files!
