On the first Sunday of May, tens of thousands of folks will celebrate a day of community and festivity together. All this takes place because - and only because - hundreds of volunteers pitch in to make it happen. There are so many ways to get involved anytime from early April to the day of the parade!

We also offer group volunteer opportunities for faith groups, civic organizations, and businesses! Contact our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@hobt.org for details on how your organization can partner with In the Heart of the Beast Theatre and help make MayDay happen.

WORKSHOPS (HELP NEEDED IMMEDIATELY!)
Volunteer roles include: setup, maintaining work stations, assisting with puppet building, greeting people at the door, cleanup, and assisting with any hospitality needs.

PARADE
Volunteer roles include: moving large puppets between sites, holding banners in the parade, assisting the parade coordinator with organizing the parade lineups, marshalling the parade for safety, cleaning up after the parade

CEREMONY
In need of volunteer performers, assistance with setup and cleanup, and also ushers who can help direct the flow of foot traffic for the people who want to watch the ceremony.

FESTIVAL
Volunteer roles include: setup, zero waste green team, cleanup, moving large puppets between places, guarding the sensory spots and the park building, lost child caregiver.

ZERO WASTE GREEN TEAM
Help boost MayDay's composting and recycling efforts by assisting folks with sorting their items at a waste station while affirming the impact of their actions. We diverted over 80% of waste in 2018 and we need your help to do it again! Training is provided, no experience necessary.

TABLOID AND NOTICE DISTRIBUTIONS
On Wednesday May 1, we need help getting the word out about parking on the day of the parade as well as help distributing the MayDay Tabloid at Powderhorn Park and the theatre.

Some volunteer roles may require accessibility and/or safety training in advance.
