The North Country Trail
Association offers Field Grants of up to $5000 to support NCTA Chapter and Affiliate projects. Field Grants are awarded on a competitive basis
according to benefits to the trail and
NCTA, need of the applicant, and the applicant’s grant history. Applicants are encouraged to provide a cash match for projects.
Applications are received and reviewed four times each year by the Field Grant Committee. The current application deadlines are:
- February 15
- April 15
- July 15
- October 15
The following types of projects will be
considered:
- Special events, programs, or projects to build
public support of the NCT or membership in the NCTA
- Trail construction and maintenance projects
- Hiring youth corps or contract crews to assist with large-scale trail projects
- Installation or repair of trail
facilities or signage
- Purchase of major tools or equipment not available through the NPS supply request process
- Volunteer training events
- Other projects as recommended by Regional Trail Coordinators
There are a few exclusions that are not eligible for Field Grants, including but not limited to:
- Chainsaws
- Staff salaries
- Projects not on or related to the NCT
- Reimbursement requests
- Land acquisition, easements or other Trail Protection costs (contact NCTA's Director of Trail Protection)
