Event Description:
Come join Princeton Veritas at our forum to discuss the role of religion in liberal democracy and its future trajectory on Wednesday, March 20. Democracy is under attack worldwide, and many people think that a culture of compromise and mutual respect in American political dialogue is eroding. This forum aims to understand whether and how these trends relate to shifts in religiosity and secularism and to discuss how politics and religion should interact in a well-functioning liberal democracy. Is a strict “separation of church and state” necessary in a liberal state, or are the ideals present in religions actually important for supporting democracy? How can people whose politics are informed by their religious beliefs best engage and make political arguments in the public space?
Dinner will be provided at 6 PM. Grab a friend and come join the conversation!
