If you are interested in being a TA in the Fall 2025 semester for any of the CIS/CIT/NETS courses listed below, please complete this application. We strongly encourage you to apply by
Friday 18 April, though select courses may continue to evaluate applications on a rolling basis afterwards.
If you wish to apply for multiple TA positions, please fill out this form for each course you wish to apply for. Courses other than those listed below may also have TA openings; please reach out to the instructor for more details.
There are no fixed prerequisites to be a TA beyond a love of teaching. You do not need to have taken the course you are applying for, although it helps. You do not need to be a CIS or Engineering major. Our students come from all over the university, and our TAs do too!
NOTE: Students who are on a leave of absence from the university during Fall 2025 are not eligible to be hired as a TA for a Fall 2025 course.
*NOTE: an application to any of the larger ML courses (indicated with an asterisk in the course list below) may be redirected to another ML course to ensure a good balance of staff.
As a TA, your duties may include leading recitations, grading homework assignments, holding office hours, answering student questions on Piazza/Ed Discussions, and attending a weekly staff meeting. You will also be expected to help grade exams and should plan on being available for the course's final exam.
The typical time commitment is 10-15 hours per week. CIS TAs are currently paid $18 an hour. We are often able to accommodate TAs who prefer to work more hours per week (e.g., for work-study).
