The Semel Healthy Campus Initiative Center at UCLA is kicking off our Health Equity Seminar series with the virtual movie premiere of PLAYING FOR KEEPS open to all University of California students, faculty, staff, alumni and retirees!
PLAYING FOR KEEPS examines the importance of play and downtime for all of us - children, adults, seniors and animals. It is a tapestry of interwoven characters that takes a look at the health benefits of the play state as well as its recent decline in our lives.
This premiere will be followed by a panel discussion on the relationship between play and health equity led by Executive Director of UCLA Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), This panel discussion will feature:
Dr. Bob Bilder, UCLA's neuropsychology expert
Dr. Stuart Brown, Founder of the National Institute for Play
Caroline Cárdenas, Oncology Nurse and Hula Hoop Dancer
Miranda Kim, UCLA undergraduate student and Assistant Commissioner of the Student Wellness Commission
Elisa Terry, UCLA Recreation Associate Director of Fitness and Wellness
*PLAYING FOR KEEPS will be available to watch only from 10/25 to 10/27, starting at 6:00 a.m. PDT on Sunday, October 25th and running through 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27th. During the screening window, viewers can start, stop, and re-watch the film at their convenience, from the comfort of their own home.
