A Mapathon is where people from all backgrounds work together to add data to OpenStreetMap (OSM) to areas in need. Mapping with OSM is a great way to contribute to international humanitarian aid from anywhere! This year, we will be mapping the DR of the Congo and Uganda border, benefiting Ebola relief programs.. All you need is a laptop and internet connection! OSM is an online tool, so no software is necessary. OSM is easy to learn, no mapping experience is required!
Please bring your laptop to the Mapathon. Any laptop will do! If you do not have a laptop, please let us know on this form.
You are welcome to come anytime between 12:45PM to 3:00PM and leave when you want (though at least an hour is appreciated!). The work is individual (but helping each other is encouraged) so you will not miss anything if you show up halfway through. There will be a brief overview at 11:45AM during GIS Day and there will be help throughout the event.
