Kearns' Working Groups 2020-2025 Interest Form

Are you interested in working with fellow community members to make Kearns' vision a reality? We are looking for volunteers to fill working groups and get involved with the planning process. Complete this form, and we will get back to you shortly!

Working group descriptions are based on action items identified in the 2020 Kearns General Plan. Please see http://bit.ly/lrp-kearns for more information.

Transportation Working Group (beginning Spring 2021): Work with regional transportation planners to advance Kearns’ General Plan goals, support existing and future Safe Routes to School (SRTS) programs, explore the feasibility of reduced-fare transit passes for cost-burdened groups in Kearns, host community walks and bike rides, educate community about benefits of transit and active transportation

Economic Development Working Group (beginning Spring 2021): Design business attraction strategies, brainstorm and execute commerce and marketing events, explore opportunities for joint education/job training programs – particularly in the Warehouse District

Arts, History, and Culture Working Group (beginning Spring 2021): Fundraise and seek ways to insert pieces of local art and history into public spaces in Kearns, promote and educate residents about Kearns’ local history, design wayfinding signage and public art for existing and proposed parks and trails

Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) (beginning Summer 2021): One NPA will be created for each of Kearns’ five residential neighborhoods; NPAs help organize resident concerns and prioritize planning goals by neighborhood. The NPAs are active in community development and beautification

Environment and Sustainability Working Group (beginning Winter 2021): Explore opportunities for incentivizing xeriscaping, more tasks pending

Infrastructure Working Group (beginning Winter 2021): Audit Kearns' Noise Ordinance and provide alternatives, more tasks pending

Housing Working Group (beginning Winter 2021): Explore opportunities for assisting interested homeowners with ADU construction, more tasks pending
