BGE is planning an overhead transmission line from their substation next to Clavel in Southern Remington to the Baltimore City salt dome off of the JFX North Avenue exit. 

This proposed line will be carried by six masts approximately the height of the Washington Monument in Mount Vernon, towering over nearby residences and having a strong negative visual impact on the approach in and out of downtown, in Remington, Central Baltimore and the Jones Falls River Valley.

High-voltage electric powerlines have been shown to: decrease real estate values, cause electric and magnetic interference, create a consistent buzzing noise, and have potential negative health impacts on young people.

Join the Greater Remington Improvement Association in:

  • Requesting Mayor Brandon Scott deny permits and construction access on city property for the proposed BGE Overhead Transmission Line project crossing the Jones Falls from Remington to the JFX.
  • Requesting BGE move forward with one of the alternative proposals that uses conduit to carry the transmission lines underground or along the CSX Belt Line instead of utilizing overhead masts.

I request Mayor Brandon Scott intervene to prevent issuance of permits or construction access on city property for BGE's proposed overhead transmission line project, and call on BGE to pursue one of the non-overhead alternatives they presented to the Public Service Commission.
