The "Close Calls" Database
Charleston Moves collects "close call" reports between motorists and people on bike or foot. This not only helps us identify hotspots that warrant increased enforcement for the protection of vulnerable road users, but also informs safety audits and reviews, as well as potential infrastructure improvement projects.
We define a "close call" as an upsetting, unsafe or harmful incident perpetrated by a motorist while you were biking or walking, whether or not it results in a collision. This includes harassment, verbal or otherwise.
By entering the information below, you understand that Charleston Moves may provide your full entry, including contact information, to the Charleston Police Department and any other police departments that express interest in receiving this information. We do not provide your name and contact information when we use your entries to better inform the safety audits and reviews, proposed infrastructure improvements, and proposed statewide safety policies.
