BRC Diversity Art Guide 2022
** WHAT IS THIS? **
Hello! We're the Melon Camp - a camp that gifts watermelon at Black Rock City every year.

As part of our camp's Radical Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (RIDE) goals, we wanted to help the Burner community by creating a Diversity Art Guide for Black Rock City.  The goals of this Diversity Art Guide are to help diverse artists:
- amplify their art projects, so more people experience it at BRC
- promote ways people can support the artist/project

We're using a broad definition of "diverse artist" to help communities that historically haven't gotten much attention/support/access in the world of Art:
- Race / Ethnicity
- Gender Identity / Sexual Orientation
- Physical / Mental Ability

So if you're a diverse artist bringing art to BRC this year, please fill out the form below so we can help amplify your project & ways people can support! Or if you know a diverse artist bringing art to BRC, please send them this link.

** HOW & WHEN WILL THIS TAKE SHAPE? **

Taking inspiration from the Rockstar Librarian Music Guide (https://www.rockstarlibrarian.com), the BRC Diversity Art Guide will be distributed online as a PDF to download to mobile devices OR print. We intend to update the Guide on a regular basis as we receive submissions & updates, up until we publish a final Guide on Sun Aug 21. We are also working on a solution to have a physical version of the Diversity Art Guide at our Camp (8:45 & A) for artists to update with any changes.

Here is an initial template that we'll be updating weekly: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1mIEFN2gc_TTazfmfpH63PAJHLYjQ-I6iVUhPJwpWmE0/edit?usp=sharing

We know that diversity, equity, inclusion and background/identity can be very touchy subjects, so we want to get consent from artists before we include them in this Diversity Art Guide AND use your own words for your identity/background. We would hate to "out" any artist or mis-identify them, without their knowledge.

Please note, this is v1 of something we hope to perfect over many years, so if you have any feedback or questions, please email us at BRCDiversityArt@gmail.com.
