The Process of Becoming Tehorah
Based on our class, what Torah verse is very useful in teaching the טהרה process in place today? *
1 point
What are the distinct steps of the טהרה Process outlined here? *
3 points
Is the pasuk above relating to a נידה or to a זבה?  Does this affect our practice today? Yes, this is a throwback to Session 3. *
1 point
The 4 or 5 Day Minimum
What pasuk that we studied led us to understand that a day on which a woman expelled semen after having relations will not be able to count toward her 7 nekiim? *
1 point
If the pasuk above mentions 3 days, how did the Shulchan Aruch get to a 4-day minimum? How did the Rama get to a 5-day minimum? Please explain each position fully. *
2 points
What additional stringency did the Rama apply here (on top of the waiting days calculation)? *
1 point
We saw that if a couple is halachically forbidden to each other on a given day directly connected to an onah during which she began to flow, this day (or more) can be annexed to the waiting time and help hasten the woman's ability to go to the mikveh. Please give at least 2 examples of this kind of "annexing to the waiting days". *

Hefsek Tahara: the pivotal initial bedika
In מסכת נדה פרק י משנה ב we saw an agreement that a hefsek tahara must occur to enable a נדה to change her from a woman who is presuming to be flowing to a woman who is presumed to not be flowing. We also saw a debate about the timing of the hefsek. Who was debating? What are the 2 respective opinions? *
2 points
Regarding the above debate, what does the Shulchan Aruch write? *
1 point
What practical advice do we give to brides today thanks to Shulchan Aruch's ruling? *
1 point
Moch dachuk
Who was the first to mention the placing of a "stuck cloth" into the vagina just before sunset and removing it with nightfall as a way of assuring that the woman's pivoting from being a woman who is presumably flowing to being a woman who has stopped flowing is 100% successful? When did this person live? *
2 points
7 nekiim
How does a woman count the days of her 7 נקיים? What actions couple her mental count? Which is the most important action? *
2 points
What 3 way debate did we see in מסכת נדה פרק י משנה ג? *
3 points
According to the discussion in the תלמוד בבלי מסכת נדה דף ז עמוד ב, whose opinion is the הלכה? *
1 point
Practical Scenarios & Curriculum Building
In the case of a woman who confirms she is struggling with halachic infertility after diligently noting when she ovulates for a few months, which part of the טהרה process will be our target for intervening? Can we simply send her to the mikveh on day 6 of 7? Yes, this too is a throw back to Session 3---the different sugyot are all coming together!
As we saw, not all בדיקות are created equally. What practical points can you stress to your Kallot to be clear about the difference between a הפסק טהרה and the בדיקות of 7 נקיים? What things can you say/ask to check for understanding? *
1 point
Even in the case of great need, halachic advisors often advise a woman to do at least one bedika in the middle of 7 נקיים, shying away from teaching a woman to perform only one day 1 and one day 7 bedika after her hefsek tahara. Why is that the case? *
1 point
The greatest take home point of all is to ASK QUESTIONS & to teach our Kallot to ASK QUESTIONS!
Psak-sensitive Questions
Regarding the waiting of 4 or 5 days: does it only start from the flow, or could there be cases where it starts from staining?
If her period comes בין השמשות, from when does she wait her 4 or 5 days?
Must a kallah do a מוך דחוק?
Should a woman do a moch if she must restart her ז’ נקיים? What, if anything, do we tell a kallah about this during kallah classes?
For how long at minimum must a woman leave in the מוך?
Are there any cases where a kallah or young married woman would be allow to wear a liner or colored underwear during ז’ נקיים? If so, should I mention to a kallah that there might be circumstances where she would be instructed to do so and she should ask a shayla?
For בדיקות, how deep must a woman insert the cloth at minimum? (Obviously she should aim for the maximum- but if for whatever reason that won’t work, what would at minimum be considered a bedikah?)
If a woman is having difficulty doing bedikot, may she use lubricant in the process, and if so, how? May she use water?
How many bedikot should a woman do lechatchila every day- one or two?
Can a woman attribute blood to a wound during the first three days of the 7 nekiim? What should a kallah be told about this issue during kallah classes, beyond “ask a shayla?”
Looking Forward to Lesson 13: Timing of Immersion & Financial Planner's Presentation
This class covered a list of topics we may want to "weave in". Next class we will weave in some financial planning. Are there life lessons you like to "weave in" that we have not discussed or mentioned up until now? If you'd like to share one such lesson, please email the group.
In preparation for next class, please watch https://www.themikvehmovie.org/
Yashar kochech and thank you!
