2018 Operating Dates
Times listed are the gates open/close times. Expect to stay later as we get deeper into the season because although ticket sales will have ended, we continue to scare until all the patrons have been scared off of the property.
All employees will be required to be here, in costume and make-up at least 30 minutes before the gates open. Depending on your position, that may mean you need to arrive earlier for makeup.
• Sept. 29, Oct. 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27, and Nov. 2, 3: Open from 7 pm-12 am (expect to run later as we get deeper in the season)• Thursday Oct. 25th, & Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 7 pm-10 pm (closing early since they're weekdays)• Halloween Night is MANDATORY.
If you are a new hire, you will need to attend orientation on Sept. 15th at 10 am. There is also a mandatory dress rehearsal for ALL employees on Saturday, Sept. 22nd, beginning at 9 am if your in the house, 7 pm if your in the corn. Sept. 23rd at 6 pm for those in unhinged. That means EVERYONE needs to come meet with Cindy for your costume either on the 15th from 1-3 pm or on the 22nd from 2-4 pm. If you can't make it in one of those time slots, call Cindy at 979-549-8847 to schedule a time. Please notify jobs, spouses, sitters, etc. ASAP that you need these days off so that you can become acquainted with your position and square away costuming and makeup details. If you can't make this rehearsal, please indicate that in the designated section below.
• We are hiring for paid positions until our first opening day. Only employees that are hired PRIOR to Friday, September 28th, will receive paychecks. All others are considered volunteers. You must work at least 20 hrs in the season to receive a paycheck. Anything less than that will not be a paid actor.• There will be a MANDATORY rehearsal on Saturday, Sept. 22nd, beginning at (9 am-House) (7 pm- Corn). Sept. 23rd will be at 6 pm- Unhinged. Please notify jobs, spouses, sitters, etc. ASAP that you need that day off so that you can become acquainted with your position as well as square away costuming and makeup details.• You are required to be here every night that we’re open (see operating dates/times above) unless you got approval when you were hired. If we’re slow, we may let you leave early. We are open for one month out of the year. If you accept a position with Fearshire Farms, you agree to place your commitment to this job above all social activities. We’re not talking about unavoidable emergencies such as death and illness or even work, but we ARE speaking of activities to which you have a choice such as sports games, parties, trick-or-treating, etc. Put the dates of any such activities that you feel that you cannot miss in the space above so that we can decide whether we can work around it before we hire you. • Nobody will be off on Halloween night. Our entire industry revolves around Halloween! If you can’t work Halloween night, then this job is not for you.• You agree to secure authorization from all appropriate authorities (bosses, spouses, parents, etc.) to be available to work the evenings listed above (or if your schedule is already set, put those dates in the space above). This may mean arranging with your employer to work extra nights or weekends. If you switch jobs before the haunt, interview for the new job requesting those evenings off. Most employers are impressed with people that honor prior commitments. • If an emergency arises and you will be late or absent, you'll contact your house leader ASAP, giving us as much time as possible to find a fill-in. Excessive lates/absences without prior approval can be grounds for termination. • You understand that touching, cursing or otherwise harassing customers is forbidden and that it can be grounds for immediate termination, as is texting/phone calls or playing games on your cell phone during operating hours. • Our business is all about making memories for our customers. Work even one season with us and you will also walk away with a lifetime’s worth of awesome stories to tell. There is absolutely zero room for negative attitudes and comments, whether about other employees or other haunts and whether on-site or anywhere else. If you can’t comply, then this job is not for you. • You are responsible for making sure you are indeed checked in, making sure your area is clean and free from trash before you leave, and will be present for roll call at the end of the night where you'll be dismissed for the day. • All costumes, props, masks etc. will be checked in each night, and hung neatly in your costume bags at the end of your shift before roll call. • Employees are paid for hours open only, not for time on site. Payday is the day of the end-of-haunt party (TBA).• You must check with your house leader to make sure your hours are correct before 11/03 so payroll can be properly processed. ALL CHECKS MUST BE DEPOSITED BY NOVEMBER 30, 2018. (This is a seasonal account, and money will no longer be available in December from that account.) Contact Cindy Davis if you have issues before the 30th.• You must have a positive attitude, be willing to fill in where needed and take direction. • If you come to work under the influence, you will be immediately terminated. If there is any drug/alcohol activity on the premises, you may also be arrested. You won’t need it-scaring people is intoxicating enough!• Violation of any of the above can result in immediate termination. If you’re terminated and you have a paycheck coming, you’ll have to arrange to pick it up from Cindy. You won’t be invited to the end-of-haunt party.• Our primary form of communicating important information to you is via text messaging and via email. You need to be able to check your email daily, especially as the haunt weekends near. You can log on at the public library if you don’t have a computer. We do also have a private Facebook group where we discuss things haunt-related, but if it's something urgent from Admin, you will receive a text message and/or an email.
