Share Your Thoughts: Strathcona Park Gazebo
How would you use a new neighbourhood gazebo in Strathcona Park?

Action Sandy Hill (ASH) is working with architect and Sandy Hill resident, Barry Padolsky, to finalize details and features of the new structure so it will meet everyone’s needs and expectations.

After an earlier survey and much discussion, the ASH board decided to use the money it
received from the cash-in-lieu of parkland program for a new gazebo. We received more than
$26,000 from Homestead Properties when they built The Balmoral apartment at 99 Range Road. In addition, the City has approved ASH’s application under its Capital Projects program and will match the cost of construction.

The new structure will be constructed on the circular concrete pad by the playground at the north end of the park. The tentative start date for the construction is next summer. Barry Padolsky has volunteered his time to design the new gazebo incorporating some of the original’s design features.

Your answers to the questions below will help ASH gain a better understanding of our community needs and will be considered in the final design of the new gazebo.

This will not be Strathcona Park’s first gazebo. Here’s a photo from the 1920s of the original structure—a well-appreciated feature of the park.
