We Are America Project: Teacher Application (Cohort 8, 2026-2027 School Year)
We are excited to have you apply for the We Are America Cohort 8.

We will be selecting approximately 20-25 teachers from across the country to collaborate with for the coming year.

* We will be providing you our curriculum and materials for you to use with your students.

* As a cohort we will be meeting once a month on Zoom for Professional Development - meeting the student founders, and our national partners (from Re-imagining Migration, Facing History and Ourselves, and the Tenement Museum.) We are happy to provide proof for your school if you need of having attended these hours of professional development. :)

* We will work with you to design and layout your students' book. We will fund 100 copies of your students' book and profile your students' stories on our website.

* We will connect you with other incredible teachers across the country!

* We will provide tips, ideas, and material about sharing your work and book in your community and beyond and will help share out nationally about your students' work.

* In honor of your hard work and your collaboration with us we will be providing a $500 stipend at the completion of the project.


In exchange we ask that you:
* Commit to attending our once a month 1 hour zoom webinars as they are important for explaining the project, supporting your work on the project, and building a strong teacher community.

* Engage and collaborate with us! That you bring your energy, ideas, and passions to this work!

We recognize that writing a published book of student stories and truths is hard work. This project will take dedicated time, but we have seen how powerful and transformative the process and final project has been for many teachers and students across the country and we hope you will be excited to join us in this journey!

However we do note that a larger book takes significantly more time and so really encourage teachers who want to work with more than 30 students have support and colleagues who can help.) *

The "We Are America Project" requires many rounds of editing of stories and likely support of students outside of normal class hours. Do you have experience editing and iterating with students and do you think you can commit to helping students outside of class hours to work on their stories? *
