2026 CUTC Penguin Project: Artist & Mentor Registration
ARTIST APPLICATIONS CLOSE ON 4/26/2026 due to high level of interest and safe staffing ratios. AFTER 4/26/2026 ANY ARTISTS THAT ATTEMPT TO REGISTER WILL NOT BE ABLE TO!

Champaign Urbana Theater Company is excited to announce the 2026 Penguin Project Production:

Mary Poppins Jr!

We are now accepting applications for new and returning artists & mentors! Please fill out this form no later than Saturday, May 2nd to give the staff plenty of time to go through the applications! 

*If you are under 18 years old, please have a parent or guardian assist you in completing this application*

Interested Applicants must be within the following age ranges as of May 16, 2026:
Artists: Ages 10-23 as of May 16, 2026
Mentors: Ages 11-24 as of May 16, 2026 (unless otherwise approved by the staff)

The penguin project schedule will run from May 17th, 2026 to August 18th, 2026. Rehearsals until tech week will run every Sunday and Tuesday from 6-7:30pm. We will ask that Mentors arrive no later than 5:45pm. Rehearsals will be held at the Temple Baptist Church (1100 Broadmoor Drive, Champaign, IL 61821)

*Some special events, important meetings, and extra time may be added to the schedule as needed, so please keep an eye out for communication about those.*

This year we will not host a mentor bootcamp, however, we will have a Family 

Also, please note the following important dates and times:
  • April 26th, 2026 is our Prospective & Returning Penguin Family Meeting at 6pm (1100 Broadmoor Drive, Champaign, IL 61821  )
  • Sunday, May 17th: ALL Artists & Mentors First Rehearsal! (1100 Broadmoor Drive - Temple Baptist Church)
Please note: This year ALL Artist & Mentors must provide a 1.5" or 2" binder with 3 rings to put your script into. The scripts will be provided hole punched to artists and mentors when they have their binder!

Tech Week & Performance Schedule (mandatory attendance for all). Our tech & performance location this year is Parkland College Theater (2400 W Bradley Ave, Champaign, IL 61821)!!!
Tech Week/Dress Rehearsal:
  • Sunday, August 23rd: 5-8
  • Monday, August 24th: 5-8
  • Tuesday, August 25th: 5-8
  • Wednesday, August 26th: 5-8
  • Thursday, August 27th 5-8 (Dress Rehearsal)
Performance Schedule:
  • Friday, August 28th at 7pm (5:30pm call time for Artists, 5:15pm call time for Mentors)
  • Saturday, August 29th at 3pm (1:30pm call time for Artists, 1:15pm call time for Mentors)
  • Sunday, August 30th at 3pm (1:30pm call time for Artists, 1:15pm call time for Mentors)
STRIKE will take place after the Sunday show, please plan to stay for additional time after this performance to ensure we can clean up the space and get everything moved out!
