Hello graduate/professional students! Thank you for your interest in applying to be a part of the Mission Santa Lucía team! The trip will be March 12th-20th, 2022. This application will close on Sunday, October 17th . Providers do NOT need to apply; instead please reach out to us at

Our brigade will be comprised of approximately 20 people including:
-Physicians and pharmacists
-Pharmacy students
-Medical students
-Students/representatives from Social Work, Physical Therapy, and Nursing
Clinic is typically 9am-4pm and duties may include rotating through the following:
- Intake (getting patient information, height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, RR, blood glucose, etc.)
- Physician shadowing
- Pharmacy
- Health education
No experience is necessary in any of the above areas. We expect to see anywhere from 500-1,000 patients.
Approximate Budget:
$850 Brigade Fee (includes housing, transportation, and meals in Honduras) +
$400-700 International Round Trip Flight (destination: San Pedro Sula Airport - SAP) +
$13.50 OSU Travel Insurance +
$50 for souvenirs
TOTAL = $1300-$1600
Aside from money for buying souvenirs or personal items, students will not be expected to pay for anything while on the trip. All of the following services are provided with the trip fee:
• Online application and fees payment process
• Travel insurance, 24-hour evacuation service, and registration with US State Department
• Well maintained and safe transportation to/from airport
• Two nights in a basic hotel and 3 meals during each trip to/from airport
• On-site brigade coordinator
• Reliable 24/7 security patrol
• Simple housing accommodations and associated cleaning staff while on-site
• Nutritious and hygienic meals (3 per day), safe drinking water, and snacks
• Post-brigade evaluations to improve services and promotions to the STS community
There are options available to help with the cost burden of the trip. These include but are not limited to :
• Applying for IPC reimbursement (up to $750)
• Scholarship opportunities based on financial need (potentially three $500 scholarships available)
• Fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for the brigade

Each participant is responsible for booking their own flight that fits in the time range that will be given (you can fly whatever airline and out of whichever location is most convenient for you). We will be available to help you through this process.

DISCLAIMER: Although we are planning to go on the trip, we cannot anticipate how COVID-19 will affect our plans. The brigade fee is fully refundable and everyone will purchase flight insurance to ensure we can get our money back.
