Survey on My Book's Current First Line
I'm writing a book for the University of Pittsburgh tentatively titled, Death Fog: Clean Air and the Tragedy of a Pennsylvania Mill Town. The book explores a smog tragedy in 1948 that killed twenty-one and led directly to the nation's first clean air act. Here is the current first paragraph:
"Helen Stack woke up that morning with a cough and sore throat and thought she must be developing a cold."
