Foster Family/Puppy Raiser Application
Foster families are an integral part of the W.A.G.S. 4 Kids program. It is through the dedication of its volunteers that W.A.G.S. 4 Kids is able to prepare these special animals for the work they will do.
Homes are needed for periods of approximately six to twelve weeks in duration. Service Dogs in training are typically placed in one home during the twelve (12) months to twenty-two (22) months old time frame. Due to COVID and the current lock-down of our prison systems, we are also looking for puppy raisers. Our goal is to provide patterned, specific experiences with each dog in training to prepare, test, and transition his or her ability to be of service to a child in real life environments and situations.
During your foster experience WAGS is committed to covering the cost of the dog's food and medical needs under the care of the W.A.G.S. 4 Kids veterinary providers. Foster families will be asked/required to see to the general well being of the dog including following all dietary guidelines as prescribed and administering monthly flea, tick and heart worm medications as allocated in addition to training/playing/cuddling. :-)
We thank you for your interest in helping in this endeavor and ask that you fill out this application with as complete answers as possible. You apply with the understanding that all members of the family must agree to and maintain the Service Dog training requirements as directed by W.A.G.S. 4 Kids.
