WHAT: Join the DC Justice for Muslims Coalition, UNITE HERE! (Unite Here Local 23) & SURJ Northern Virginia for an emergency rally at Dulles Airport's International Arrivals Terminal, Door 1.
WHY: The second Executive Order, also known as Muslim Ban 2.0, will go into effect on March 16th, throwing into tumult and despair again, communities that are directly impacted by the ban. When the last Executive Order went into effect (January 27), thousands of people across the country rallied at airports. Since then, we've seen the remarkable work of people power, with legal clinics, organizing efforts and direct action. We keep hearing that this ban is "better", but there is no better racism, xenophobia and outright discrimination, even if its differently worded. There are no concessions when it comes to a Muslim Ban. Together, we can and we will win.
LABOR SOLIDARITY: Since Trump’s election hundreds of immigrant workers at the D.C. airports have organized and won union recognition with UNITE HERE Local 23. Still the airports remain sites of great inequality: record profits in the airline industry, and poverty jobs for thousands of largely-immigrant workers who keep passengers fed on the ground and in the air. We are grateful for their work, their support, and their continued solidarity and courage as immigrant workers challenging power.
Join us- bring pots and pans, signs and your loudest voices.
